Giant Gundam action figure
Remember the earlier post I wrote about Darth Maul bank being a good guardian of your money? Well, here’s another one you could use to guard your collection, maybe even give someone a scare.
Bandai’s RX-78-2 Gundam is a 5 feet (1.5 meters) action figure. While not an impressive number by people’s standards, damn you if don’t think this is awesome. This is a HUGE action figure. It beats the crap out of that puny $700 Star Wars Clone Trooper action figure selling some time back, and it’s maybe 1/3 of the size of this one. I don’t remember the exact size of that one but I know it’s much shorter than this one. It may be not even be 1/3 of this one, maybe less.
The RX-78-2 Gundam, at 5 feet, is on a 1/12 scale from the actual concepts of the robot characters in the Gundam anime, which is one of the favorites in Japan. Remember that Gundam is older than Transformers which they drew great inspiration from.
In Japan Gundam is so big that they erected a 1 to 1 scale Gundam statue on Tokyo bay. Wow, freaks. But this one, this is an action figure, not a statue, and the fact that it’s this big and articulated… whoa… just check the Japanese chick, take her high heels off of her and I’m sure the RX-78-2 is almost as tall as she is (not quite, but kind of close).
The RX-78-2 Gundam action figure (or replica) weighs 77lbs (35 kgs) and comes with a beam rifle, beam saber and a shield (check pics below). You’ll only be able to get this on Bandai’s site at http://p-bandai.jp/hobby/ but it’s all in Japanese so good luck.
And don’t forget to check Crunch Gear for their coverage on this one.
